This is a short reminder to all our customers, about the reasons for tire changes. 

For winter, changing your tires is necessary for your safety.Summer tires are made with a harder rubber compound than winter tires. As temperatures drop summer tires begin  lose their grip on the road.

The deadline for this swap is December 1st..

Winter to Summer

The change to your “summer ” or “4 season" tires, can be done from the 15th of March. 

Driving through the summer with winter tires is not recommended. 

The softer rubber compounds required for winter driving  do not stand up well to summer time temperatures. In fact, tire wear increases dramatically by driving in temperatures above 7*C.

Finally, changing your tires in our garage allows us to check for wear that may indicate other suspension or alignment problems.

Tire Change

A full tire change involves removing one set of tires from the wheels and installing another set of tires on the same set of wheels.

Even with high-end equipment this repeated stretching of the rubber to mount and dismount the tires from the wheels is hard on the tire’s inner edge (bead edge).f you typically do not accumulate a lot of mileage during the year your tires will last longer and be subjected to a greater number of tires changes than someone that uses up their tires more quickly.

Tire Swap

Having both your summer and winter tires mounted on a separate set of wheels means that we can “swap” your wheels and tires over without ever stretching the rubber. The extra initial  cost of a second set of wheels is offset over time by the fact that the cost of a tire swap is roughly half that of a full tire change. 

Once your tires have eventually worn out and are in need of replacing the wheels can still be used for your next set of tires.
